Towards Equality is a collaborative journalism program aiming to highlight the challenges and solutions to reach gender equality. Launched in 2021, it gathered 15 news outlets across the globe for its first run. Through the publication of 198 articles, it was a chance for more than 70 million people to discover stories produced with a gender-sensitive approach.

In 2022 and 2023, Towards Equality is growing, and expanding, to include even more perspectives and voices. To start with, in November 2022, we’ve launched “In the Balance,” a newsletter meant for journalists, tackling each month a different theme through a gender lens.  A month later, we created a resource site to congregate the content we produce and all the articles, data, and reports we share with our readers. In September 2023, we renamed the website In the Balance.

We are also working on creating different sharing spaces for editors and reporters from around the world, to exchange ideas and best practices, and therefore build a strong support network.

In time, we hope to turn this website into a knowledge center, full of resources, for a more inclusive coverage of key issues in the news.
