Towards Equality is a collaborative journalism program aiming to advance gender journalism in newsrooms around the world. Created by Sparknews in 2020, it stems from a conviction that the news should reflect more faithfully the world we live in. It began with a series of webinars and an international media alliance, before growing to include In the Balance.

In November 2022, we sent out the first issue of “In the Balance,” a newsletter meant for journalists tackling different themes through a gender lens. A month later, we created a resource site to congregate our own articles and podcasts, as well as all the sources, data, and reports we share with our readers.

We are also working on creating different sharing spaces for editors and reporters from around the world, to exchange ideas and best practices, and therefore build a strong support network. You can learn more about that here.
